Sleep and the Golden Middle: Symmetry as a Law of Human Nature

 



Longevity can be expressed as a simple algebraic formula: lifespan minus wellspan equals zero. Nowhere does this principle show itself more clearly than in sleep. The optimal range identified was 6.4 to 7.8 hours per night, associated with healthier biological aging, lower disease risk, and enhanced longevity. Deviation in either direction increased the risk of disease and early mortality.

This is not simply a statistical curiosity. It reflects something deeper: the body is organized around symmetry.
